Maple Syrup and Honey Recipes

Rick's maple scone

Rick works up a crazy good scone made with Springboro Tree Farms maple syrup.

Total Time

Prep and mixing time plus 25 to 30 minutes baking.


2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
5 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cups heavy cream
1 large egg
1/4 cup Springboro Maple syrup
3/4 cup chopped pecans


In the mixing bowl of a stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment, add flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda. Mix on low 2 to 3 seconds.

Add butter, mix on low until butter is incorporated well.

Stop mixer, add heavy cream, egg, Springboro Tree Farms Maple syrup and pecans. Mix on low until all the ingredients are mixed.

On floured surface turn out scone mixer and using your hands  pull ingredients together, if dough is too dry add 1 to 2 tablespoons heavy cream, and knead 2 or 3 times then pat dough into a round disk about 1 inch thick.

With a Sharp knife cut into 8 equal pieces like you would cut a pie.

Place on baking sheet that has been sprayed with non stick spray or lined with parchment paper, leaving equal space between each scone.

Bake in 350 oven 25 to 30 minutes. Sones should be evenly light brown when done.
